Wet Grinding Ball Mill
TRANSOCEAN® LQM series wet grinding ball mills are applicable for in processing of powders and granules in liquids. The mills are suitable for grinding of various solids from 500 microns down to microns with a wide range of grinding media from ϕ5 mm to ϕ12 m. Incoming materials are fed from the charging port on the top of grinding tank by a feeding pump.
Horizontal Attritor Ball Mill
TRANSOCEAN® WQM series horizontal attritor ball mills are agitator grinding machine. The mills are suitable for processing of the particle size range from 500 microns down to microns with a wide range of grinding balls from 12 mm to 30 mm in diameter. Structural Components of Ball Mill
Drum/Cylinder: The main body that houses the grinding media and the material to be processed.
Grinding Media: Spherical or cylindrical objects (steel, ceramic, or composite materials) that facilitate grinding.
Liners: Protective layers inside the drum that prevent wear and improve grinding efficiency.
Drive System: Consists of a motor, gearbox, and a girth gear that rotates the drum.
Feed Mechanism: Introduces raw material into the mill, either via a spout feeder or helical scoop feeder.
Discharge Mechanism: Allows processed material to exit, commonly through overflow, grate, or center-peripheral discharge systems.
The working principle of a ball mill involves rotating a cylindrical drum filled with grinding media (steel balls). The material to be ground is fed into the mill, and as the drum rotates, the balls inside the mill grind the material through impact and attrition. The grinding process continues until the desired particle size is achieved.
The mill operates based on the cascading effect, where the grinding media is lifted to a certain height and then falls, crushing the material. This process is repeated continually until the material is ground to the required size.
