1. Equipment hardware
Grinding media: The hardness of the material determines the grinding capacity. Zirconia beads are wear-resistant and suitable for high-hardness pigments; the smaller the particle size, the higher the collision frequency, but it needs to be adapted to the aperture of the separation plate to prevent clogging; the filling rate is preferably 60%-80%, and too high a filling rate affects the movement of the medium.
Disperser and grinding basket: Increasing the speed of the disperser can enhance the shear force, but too high a speed can easily cause the ink to heat up; the volume of the grinding basket needs to match the production capacity, and insufficient precision of the separation plate can cause the medium to leak, affecting the grinding effect.
2. Material characteristics
Initial state: The initial particle size of the pigment is large and the hardness is high, so a longer grinding time is required; high-viscosity inks hinder the movement of the medium, and pre-dispersion can improve efficiency.
Ingredient properties: The compatibility of pigments and binders is poor, which can easily lead to agglomeration after grinding; materials with strong thixotropy require pulse stirring to prevent agglomeration. 3. Process parameters
Time and cycle: The initial fineness increases significantly over time, and the efficiency of supercritical time decreases; multiple cycles can gradually refine the particle size, and high-end inks often require more than 10 cycles.
Temperature control: Grinding heat exceeding 70℃ will affect the performance of the ink, and the temperature needs to be controlled at 40-60℃ through the cooling jacket.
4. Maintenance operation
The medium absorbs residue after use and needs to be cleaned or replaced regularly; impurities introduced by poor equipment sealing will interfere with the grinding accuracy, and parts such as shaft seals need to be checked regularly.
