Brief introduction to the Vertical bead mills, Rheological additive and Highly Chlorinated Polyethylene (HCPE):
I. Vertical bead mill
SB-80 Vertical bead mills consists of a grinding chamber, agitator shaft (including grinding discs), grinding media (glass beads or zirconium silicate beads), motor, feed pump, and cooling system.
Applications: Applicable for ultra-fine grinding and dispersion in the production of road marking paint. For example, after mixing pigments, fillers, and resins, the grinding medium agitated at high speed refines the particles to the micron level, ensuring uniform color, fine texture, enhanced gloss, and adhesion of the paint film.
II. Rheological Additive
· Light yellow powder.
· Main Components and Content:
· Cationic surfactant Di-stearyl dimethyl ammonium chloride (D1821): 52%
· Magnesium aluminum silicate: 43%
· Moisture: 5%
· Primary Use: In coatings, it serves as an anti-settling and thickening agent. Used in metal anti-corrosion coatings, it offers properties such as corrosion resistance, wear resistance, saltwater erosion resistance, impact resistance, and low moisture absorption.
· Purpose: To improve the flow properties of road marking paint. For example:
· Reduces viscosity during application, facilitating spraying/brushing.
· Increases viscosity during standing or curing, preventing sagging (e.g., paint does not drip on vertical surfaces).
· Enhances the thixotropy of the paint (becomes thinner under external force and regains viscosity when stationary), ensuring uniform coating thickness.
III. Highly Chlorinated Polyethylene (HCPE)
· White powder.
· Composition: Produced by chlorination of polyethylene, containing 65% chlorine and 35% polyethylene. The molecular structure is saturated and contains chlorine atoms.
· Purpose: Serves as the film-forming substance in road marking paint, offering the following characteristics:
· Corrosion Resistance: Excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, salts, and weathering, protecting the coating from environmental erosion.
· Strong Adhesion: Bonds tightly to road surfaces.
· Good Compatibility: Can be blended with other resins (e.g., epoxy resins) to adjust the hardness and flexibility of the coating.
In road marking paint production, these three components play distinct roles: the vertical sand mill ensures material refinement, the rheological additive optimizes application performance, and the highly chlorinated polyethylene provides the core protective and adhesive properties of the coating. Together, they help the paint film achieve aesthetically pleasing and durable quality standards.
